• Identify the potential hazards associated with working at height and working in confined spaces, and understand how to assess and manage the risks to ensure a safe working environment.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards regarding working at height and confined spaces.
• Apply safe work practices and procedures, including the correct use of access equipment, fall prevention and protection, atmospheric testing and monitoring, and confined space entry procedures.
• Understand the importance of communication and teamwork when working at height or in confined spaces, and demonstrate effective communication skills to ensure all team members are aware of potential risks and hazards.
• Develop and implement emergency response plans and rescue procedures for working at height and confined space incidents, including the use of appropriate rescue equipment and techniques.

TOPIC 1:

• Introduction to Working at Height Regulations and standards.
• Understanding the risks and hazards of working at height.
• Types of access equipment for working at height.
• Inspection, maintenance, and proper use of access equipment.
• Understanding fall protection systems and equipment
• Methods of fall protection – prevention, arrest, restraint
• Practical session on the use of fall protection equipment, including harnesses and lanyards.

TOPIC 2:

• Risk assessment and hierarchy of control measures
• Developing rescue plans and procedures
• Emergency response planning and procedures
• Equipment and techniques for self-rescue and assisted rescue
• Rigging and anchor systems for rescue operations
• Rope access techniques and procedures
• High-angle rescue techniques and equipment
• Review of fall protection systems and equipment
• Practical session on rescue techniques and methods

• Specific working at height situations and control measures
• Assessing the stability of structures and surfaces

TOPIC 1:

• Introduction to confined spaces and their hazards, including toxic gases, lack of ventilation, and physical hazards.
• Understanding the relevant legislation and regulations
• Risk assessment and hazard identification
• Permit systems and confined space entry procedures
• Atmospheric testing and monitoring
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
• Practical session on confined space entry procedures and atmospheric testing
